Not sure what your background is - I would say PHP is easier than Java, but learning PHP/MySQL is a bit tougher. Flash would probably be easier in that respect.

A better question: WHY do you want to learn Flash or PHP? Because it really depends on what you want to do. One great way to not be as lazy about it is to start making money with website building - and that doesn't necessarily need Flash, PHP, or MySQL knowledge. Many websites which make money don't use Flash, PHP, or MySQL. You can learn to build websites and generatic traffic just with HTML and maybe a few other tools like Wordpress or AJAX.

If you want to freelance, then you can definitely freelance with any of those skills: Flash, PHP, MySQL, or as a business website designer.

If you're looking just to learn for fun - I definitely would say Flash - if anything it also gives a lot faster feedback with your progression than learning PHP and MySQL

I'd like to give you a few references but I only have one. I don't work with Flash much at all so I don't know what's a good Flash resource for you. I do some PHP/MySQL more for fun than anything so I learned it on my own.

PHP Builder
http://phpbuilder.net

For learning how to design websites with HTML (and CSS, Javascript, etc.) I found this to be my most valuable resource

I believe that Flash is easier than PHP when it comes to learning.

I checked Google for programming and other specialized websites and I ended up finding something that might be useful for you... Is a professional training provider, they may answer your questions more reliably. (resource box)

Consider talking to experts you know in college, friends, etc. No resource better than people you trust =)

Good luck on your research!

Yes. You'll pick up on the basics rather quick. MySQL I find it somewhat difficult IMO.

You should look at XAMPP to develop your PHP / MySQL pages:
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

Here's some tutorials to get you started:
PHP - http://w3schools.com/php/default.asp
MySQL - http://w3schools.com/sql/default.asp

Good luck!
